Support to rural accommodation and solidarity tourism in BiH (March 2016)
Alterural Association, within the "Program for the support of rural accommodation and solidarity tourism in Bosnia and Herzegovina" funded by the Foundation Abbé Pierre in France, supported 21 families from rural areas of BiH via mini-grants in 2015.
The Foundation supports this segment of the rural economy in our country since 2007, in order to improve the living conditions in the countryside and to encourage diversification of income on family farms.
Grants are distributed in material and equipment depending on the needs of families. These small projects include solar panels, covering material for reconstruction and delivery of accommodation facilities, the elaboration of a mini playground for children, equipment for water supply, chickens to produce eggs for consumption, planting material, machine milking cows.
The goal is to increase the quality of the gastronomic and accommodation services for "alternative tourists" in BiH.
Grants are between 1,000 and 1500 KM.
The beneficiaries are the families that cater to tourists, farmers in need of assistance for the improvement of living conditions.
Local active civil society organizations can also be supported for rural community projects.
The main criteria for the award of grants are:
- Previous experience in tourism
- Socio - economic vulnerability of applicants
- The connection with agricultural activities
- Accessibility of the terrain
- Sustainability
- Authenticity and valorization of local heritage
The project will be implemented in 2016. as well.
