Rural tourism in HNK (January 2016)

In the period from 30th November 2015 to 20th January 2016 Alterural identified rural accommodation offers and traditional producers in the rural area of Herzegovina-Neretva Canton. This research was done upon the request of the Tourist Board of the Canton, with the aim of developing rural tourism in this area. In total, we have identified 60 families, distributed throughout the territory. We visited the areas around Konjic, Prozor / Rama, Jablanica, Mostar, Stolac, Citluk, Capljina, Blagaj, and Neum. Among the interesting villages which more or less retained the authenticity, we can mention the village Stara Bijaca near Capljina, village Brocanac on Svitava, village Izbicno near Siroki Brijeg, and many others. Also, we have identified various significant events that take place in rural areas - "Photo safari" in Hutovo Blato, the International Festival of Music "FEMUS" in Stolac, "Cherry Days" in village Potoci, and many more. As a result of our work at the field we have created a folder and comprehensive report with all instances divided into four basic categories - the existing offer (farms with accommodation and catering service), the existing offer (cottages, etc.) that are already well-known among the competent institutions, third, households and farms with good potentials, which need investment, training or marketing, and the last group - households that do not plan to offer accommodation, but are included in the agritourist map because of their importance as an authentic farm.
